After School

  • After School

Providence Connections offers safe, secure care for school-age children from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Child care is available after school and all day long on teacher in-service days, when schools are closed due to bad weather, and during summer vacation. See Program Guide for restrictions.

Pick up transportation is provided for students attending Morrow, Allegheny Traditional Academy, and Propel North Side. Children attending other schools may be dropped off via school bus and walk into building (must be in 3rd grade or older, or escorted by a sibling that age).

A Day in the Program A typical day includes a healthy snack, homework assistance provided by staff and Duquesne University student tutors, and enrichment classes like art, music, and science. Girls in grades 3-6 can choose to be part of Strong Women / Strong Girls, and mentoring program through our partnership with Point Park University. All students participate in bi-weekly programming with Venture Outdoors, which empowers youth to explore the outdoors through hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking, and more.

Special activities are planned for school in-service days, including field trips to local attractions. Please see Program Guide for restrictions.

Our Staff Most Providence Connections staff members have earned a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, and are trained to use a school-age curriculum.

The staff works closely with parents and teachers to ensure the specific needs of each child are met. A questionnaire completed upon a child’s enrollment helps guide staff in determining which academic and social aspects are of the greatest concern and which, if any, will require special attention. Staff members are certified annually in CPR and First Aid through the American Red Cross.

Tours and Enrollment To schedule a tour or to learn more about our enrollment process, please contact the Assistant Director of Early Childhood and Youth Programs at 412-766-3860 ext. 213 or rmcdonough@providenceconnections.org.
