Providence Connections’  annual Backyard Barbeque aims to raises more than $100,000 for the families they serve who are  living in crisis. WPXI news anchor, and Providence Connections Board Member, Brittny McGraw will host the event for five consecutive years.


(Friday, April 28, 2017 – Pittsburgh, PA) – Marty O’Brien, Chairman & CEO of Allied Insurance Brokers (Pittsburgh), will serve as the Honorary Chair at Providence Connection’s (  12th Annual Backyard Barbeque to be held Friday, June 23rd from 5:00-9pm at The Westin Convention Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. The event is the most anticipated events of the year for the Northside community hub, and is attended by over two hundred people from greater Pennsylvania, including philanthropists, press, elected officials, family support services advocates and stakeholders.

This award will be presented to a Providence Connections parent or guardian participating in our support and educational programs who has shown exemplary leadership and resilience against adversity, showcasing to the greater Providence Connections community the power of our mission in strengthening families and enriching lives. “  


In addition to his participation with Providence Connections, Marty O’Brien co-founded Allied Insurance Brokers in 1982, and has over 35 years of insurance brokerage and management experience. Mr. O’Brien received his B.A. from Marietta College, is a 1981 graduate of the U.S.F. & G. Insurance School (Baltimore, MD), and attended The Leadership Development Program at The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School. Allied Insurance Brokers ranks as one of the top five-percent privately held insurance brokers in the United States. Mr. O’Brien was a former member of the Board of Directors of The Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers, which is the largest insurance broker organization in the world. He is a founding member of the Target Markets Association, which promotes the activities of insurance underwriting administrators, and served on the board of the Scaffold Industry Association Education Foundation. Mr. O’Brien is a board member of the Smithsonian Archives of American Art and most recently was elected to the board of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg, PA. Mr. O’Brien has been a national speaker on the subject of insurance niche marketing.
