On the morning of Friday, April 24th, the La Roche University campus transformed into a vibrant time machine. The morning was filled with music, throwback vibes, and incredible energy, but the true highlight was the powerful community impact driven by the event. The race successfully raised vital awareness and funds to support the ongoing family services provided by Providence Connections and The Ketteler Center.
The Power of Partnership
The success of the Retro Race is a direct testament to the deep, ongoing collaboration between Providence Connections, The Ketteler Center, and the dedicated students of the La Roche Experience (LRX) class.
For years, integrating LRX students into community-driven projects has been a cornerstone of local outreach. When these students get involved, they take total ownership. Instead of just clocking volunteer hours, they are at the drawing board designing and running the very projects that help our community.
Racing for a Cause
Participants enjoyed a beautiful morning racing, running, and walking through the decades. With free entry and a suggested $10 donation, the barrier to entry was kept low, ensuring that anyone who wanted to support the cause could join in the fun.
The funds raised during the event will go directly toward supporting the essential programs at both Providence Connections and The Ketteler Center, helping to provide resources, education, and support to families in the Pittsburgh area.
Providence Connections extends a massive thank you to everyone who laced up their sneakers, donated, and helped turn the La Roche campus into a celebration of the past for the benefit of our community’s future.
